Hey, Im trying to make a system on a budget here, Im only 17 and money is tight, and its my first one. I just bought 2 Kicker 10C104 subs from Crutchfield for my car and Im not sure if im missing anything else. I already bought an amp, Boss CE502, (500 Watt, @4 Ohms 125 RMS thru 2 channels) and I need to buy an amp kit. I was looking around and I saw this amp kit, Scosche 680W 8-Gauge Wiring Kit, at Walmart for $25. Its got 4.5 stars out of 5 so I think its good. I want an second opinion though from some people with better knowledge, Is the amp and wiring kit a good fit? I also need to get a box but I have no idea what demensions to make it and a local shop is trying to charge me $120 for a dual non-ported box. Im probably asking a lot but if you guys could help, Id really appreciate it.

8 gauge will be fine for what you have, if you have extra money get the 6 gauge kit. Read up on how to build boxes. For a beginner like you start off with sealed boxes. get sub specs and air space requirements. Get some 3/4" MDF wood, Premium titebond wood glue (green bottle) Silicone or liquid nails, 8x2" wood screws, Angle clampers, and start cutting!!

The shop that charges $120 for NON ported is on crack. You could do it yourself for less than $60 (assuming you have cutting equipment, drill, jigsaw) for a plain non carpeted box
