asosa95 Posted January 5, 2013 Report Posted January 5, 2013 Hey, Im trying to make a system on a budget here, Im only 17 and money is tight, and its my first one. I just bought 2 Kicker 10C104 subs from Crutchfield for my car and Im not sure if im missing anything else. I already bought an amp, Boss CE502, (500 Watt, @4 Ohms 125 RMS thru 2 channels) and I need to buy an amp kit. I was looking around and I saw this amp kit, Scosche 680W 8-Gauge Wiring Kit, at Walmart for $25. Its got 4.5 stars out of 5 so I think its good. I want an second opinion though from some people with better knowledge, Is the amp and wiring kit a good fit? I also need to get a box but I have no idea what demensions to make it and a local shop is trying to charge me $120 for a dual non-ported box. Im probably asking a lot but if you guys could help, Id really appreciate it.
FosgateLife Posted January 5, 2013 Report Posted January 5, 2013 8 gauge will be fine for what you have, if you have extra money get the 6 gauge kit. Read up on how to build boxes. For a beginner like you start off with sealed boxes. get sub specs and air space requirements. Get some 3/4" MDF wood, Premium titebond wood glue (green bottle) Silicone or liquid nails, 8x2" wood screws, Angle clampers, and start cutting!! 2007 Volvo S40 2.4i (no turbo )(Soon XS Power D2400) Stock battery for nowRockford Fosgate 4 gaugeAudioque 6.5" Mid Bass (front)Rockford Fosgate T1 Tweets (front)Rockford Fosgate T2 6.5" Mids (rear)Rockford Fosgats T600-4 (Mids and highs)Rockford Fosgate P3001Fi SSD 12" with PSI recone, building box
400 watts, 139.3 @ 42 hz , in the kick window open. FosgateLife Posted January 5, 2013 Report Posted January 5, 2013 The shop that charges $120 for NON ported is on crack. You could do it yourself for less than $60 (assuming you have cutting equipment, drill, jigsaw) for a plain non carpeted box 2007 Volvo S40 2.4i (no turbo )(Soon XS Power D2400) Stock battery for nowRockford Fosgate 4 gaugeAudioque 6.5" Mid Bass (front)Rockford Fosgate T1 Tweets (front)Rockford Fosgate T2 6.5" Mids (rear)Rockford Fosgats T600-4 (Mids and highs)Rockford Fosgate P3001Fi SSD 12" with PSI recone, building box
400 watts, 139.3 @ 42 hz , in the kick window open.
