Power Acoustik problems

Now I know power acoustik is a cheap chinese brand, not bad for a 17 year old kids first system. Should probably mention I have a mofo 12 dual 2 wired at 1 ohm, on a power acoustik bamf 2000.1 in a 2.7 cu^ft3 enclosure tuned at about 36. Had te set up for almost a year, and recently at full tilt the subs been making noise like the coil is leavin the gap at high excursion. Pulled the sub to check and the coil has small flecks of silver where the copper is coming off the coil. So I'm thinking the coil is on it's way out. I dropped the impedance to 4 ohm and it sounds good for now but well see

What do y'all on here think?

Soon to be upgrading to an aq hdc3 15 on either their 1200.1 or 2200.1 (was planning on this from months ago)
