Installing Gaming System

I'm a "Do-it-yourself'er" and am looking to up the ante' on my build. I'd love to add a Nintendo Wii and a screen to my build so it's playable with the back hatch open. I'm just trying to find a better way to put the system in than to run a power inverter. I know you can take a Wii or a Playstation open and modify the power circuitry from 110V AC to 12VDC, but that's a little more hardcore than I'm prepared to go. How about it? Any experience hooking up gaming systems? Any advice to give?

I'm also hoping to use my Computer monitor as the screen for the Wii once it's in. So, again... I'll be trying to power it some way other than an inverter. As far as the image from the Wii to the PC Monitor, iss there a converter that can turn my RCA signal into a VGA? I've got a RCA to S-Video converter, but... Thanks for any help.

A power inverter is the best solution. Most consoles being computers run on 12 and 5 volt, you can get both of these from your car by way of a voltage shredder, but if you get voltage drop in your car you can potentially damage the gaming system, whereas a power inverter in the event of a voltage drop will cut out saving the connected hardware. Also get a pure sine wave adapter instead of a modified sine wave as they will damage delicate electronics in the long term.

Any advice on particular Power Inverters? What's the most popular for these types of install? Anyone with experience on this? Want it to be a fairly bulletproof install.
