First of all, this is my first build from scratch. This is the first time I've bought BRAND NEW subwoofers instead of subwoofers that are just new to me, and this is the first time I've ever attempted to build an enclosure.

This build, although not the biggest, could not have happened without my parents always being there to support me. Neither of them are into the car audio world, but they put up with everything I throw at them and also support what I do.

i had a 2000 Volkswagen Golf GLS. One day when I was taking my sister home from school, I looked over at her and asked if I was taking her home or taking her to my mother's office. In just that amount of time, the cars ahead of me had stopped and I did not have enough time. The damage you see in the picture was caused by only going about 20 mph, rearending a pickup, and sliding under their rear bumper. The person I hit, a friend of mine, did not even take his truck in for an estimate. There was a tiny dent less than the size of a quarter. Now that I've told my life story, I'll get on with it.

After 60 days of having my license suspended, and some money from the insurance company, I began my quest for a new vehicle. Knowing I wanted to do a new build I was looking for a lot of space. When I found this vehicle, 4 15's was what I had in mind.

I got a 1999 Toyota 4Runner, V6, 4x4, SR5, all options except leather which I did not prefer anyways. Although it had 200,000 miles, the transmission only had 100,000 miles and this is still the best running vehicle that I have had. (Knock on wood) I've put around 2,000 miles on it since I've had it and the ONLY thing I have done is filled up the gas tank every other week.

Jeff Rowland, a great Facebook friend and IASCA World Champion, and I had been talking quite a bit about the build I wanted to do. I came to the conclusion of doing 4 DB Drive K5 15 inch subwoofers. The main reason I did these was because of the insane deal Jeff gave me on them. When they arrived at my door, I was the happiest 17 year old boy alive!

The very next day, I wanted to start the box building process so I could listen to my new toys as soon as possible. I headed out to Home Depot with a friend, and after a 15 minute drive home, we unloaded the wood. All I could do was lie in bed and wait to get through school the next day to come home and start and that is exactly what I did.

Less than 24 hours after my father and I started, we had the majority of the box done.

After sleeping in Saturday morning, eating lunch, and killing time, we started back up where we left off. We finished the final cuts but waited until Sunday to finish.

Sunday morning came and like a little kid on Christmas morning, I ran downstairs, into the garage, grabbed the last side piece and began to maneuver it into place.

Sunday around 12:30, the final piece was put on the box.

(NOTE: Again, I know it doesn't look good. It was my first build, give me a break.)

I didn't care that it wasn't perfect, and I didn't want to paint it. I wanted to throw the box in my car and make it go boom boom, so that is exactly what I did.

A few weeks later, my new amp came (American Bass VFL150.1) and it made a world of difference.

Here is a video of the subs. Although it is dark, it is the only video I have.

I knew I could never afford enough power to push the subs to their full potential, so sadly I sold them this past Monday. I'me currently in the market for new subs, and as soon as they are here, I will continue my thread :)
