gzo12885 Posted February 26, 2013 Report Share Posted February 26, 2013 I own a 2000 chevy tahoe limited with a stock 140amp alt. I have two sa12s, PB asa1500.1, Jbl 300.4, and XS3400 with big 3. I bought a new 240amp alt from my local crank-n-start. It turned out to be a lemon. Riding down the road, with nothing on, it would drop to 12-12.4. The only way it would charge was to cut the truck off and restart it. It would hold 14.4+ for a few mins with everything full blast then dive right down into the low 12s and my batt light on my truck would cut on. I took it back and put my stocker back in. With every thing on(lights, AC, etc) and music full blast at idle, the lowest drop I saw was 13.0 with no light dimming. I think I could get away with my sock alt with this setup. I have recently purchased two new sa15s and an AP apk2500. Will I need an alternator? If so, I've looked into the DB electric 250 and the powerbastards 240. Heard good and bad about both.
