throttle98 Posted March 19, 2013 Report Posted March 19, 2013 Hey, Whats up guys? Just became a member but have been a lurker for a little while. Anyways, I have a 2001 taurus with a 220 amp power bastards alternator. 1400 kinetic, and a 1800 kinetic. Right now the subs are 2 earthquake subzero 12's in a 4 cubic foot box, ported, tuned to 32hz. The amps are (2) brutus 2400's strapped (as of now) running 1700rms at 2 ohms, with the gains turned down since the subs are rated 1000 rms. So. I blew a voice coil on one of the earthquakes. It costs ~$200 with shipping to recone. Or I can just put that money towards 2 new dc audio xl m2 12's. I have never dealt with dc audio before, but to say the least these are a lot more affordable than the incriminator audio warren series I was looking at.( the brutus' put out 2400 rms at 1 ohm) Plus I can only fit a 4sq ft. box in my trunk. They recommend 3 sq ft ported for 2 12" xl's? seems small to me, but I'm no expert. I just figured the more power, the bigger the box. But I think this system might be overkill, but thats what we all love, right? ha. I would run the 2 xl's on the 2 brutus 2400's unstrapped at 1 ohm. Now I drive sometimes for an hour at a time, but I cant see me blasting them the whole way. So not sure if I should be worried. Anyways, I only know enough to get me into trouble, so please help this novice out.
