2007 Mega cab

I have a '07 Mega cab and I'm dyeing to put a system in it. I've found a couple companies that make a box for 2 12's to go behind my rear seat, which is perfectly fine with me but i don't know what i want to put in it. I've been looking at JL's 13TW5v2-2. I'm having a tough time finding something that has the right amount of air space and that stuff, but i guess the real question is, should i have a box made and put different subs in there or go with those. Also would like opinions on door speakers and tweets.

I have an '06 Mega Cab myself. I chose to go the non-prefab route, and am having a box built this week. I'm anxious to see how it turns out.

I took out my storage bins behind the rear seat (3 bolts inside) and temporarily removed the flaps that are attached to the rear seats that cover up the hinges when you fold the seats over. I'll probably put these back in.

If you remove the bins, you will have approximately 5 cu ft to work with in a wedge shape. It's roughly 12 inches deep at the bottom , 8 inches deep at the top, and 56'ish inches wide give or take a couple. I'd have to go measure again.

I went with 8 8" Rockford Fosgate P2's, though I have a feeling already that I'm going to be disappointed with them and end up replacing them with Sundown SA-8 v.2's. They have similar air space requirements so the box should work for both. I had originally planned on 4 SA-12's but don't have the air space required for that. 2 should work just fine though, so I think the JL's would be fine, especially if you have a box made at a local shop, (or build it yourself).

Given that I value my time, I used a local shop to build the box and they're only charging me 250 bucks. I've seen examples of their work, so I know it'll be quality.

Obviously 8 8's isn't going to work for everyone, so what are your goals? What type of music do you listen to? I've seen several prefab boxes for our truck, and some even look pretty decent (as long as they match driver requirements)

Will give you .9 cu ft per sub which is really close the recommended it seems. I can't vouch for quality as I've never purchased one. You would also need to modify the box to fit the JL driver since it requires a 12.5" mounting hole vs the 11 1/8" provided. Shouldn't be a big deal if you have a router, or perhaps a jigsaw.

If you do go with the JL driver, it looks like you're limited to doing a sealed box application (which is fine if using a prefab box because that's all I've been able to find for this truck). That's all personal preference though when you get into sealed vs ported.

You have enough room to fit pretty much any pair of 12's that you'd like and if mounting depth is an issue, have them be down firing. A custom box is going to give you more options there for sure and assuming you have a legit local shop shouldn't cost all that much more that a prefab. I think you'd be much happier with the results of a custom box as well.

Oh, one other thing. The panel on the back wall can be removed pretty easily, to get rid of the bump on the back wall and give yourself another inch or so of clearance. I believe this is where an amplifier would be if your truck came with the factory nav and upgraded audio system. Mine did not, so it's empty underneath and the bump is in the cover only, not the truck itself.
