LSU and North Texas agreed to reschedule their football matchup for Sept. 13 in Tiger Stadium, creating an Aug. 30 opening on the Tigers’ schedule.

LSU senior associate athletic director Verge Ausberry said late Tuesday he will fill that vacancy with another home game — preferably with a school from a BCS conference.

Ausberry said he hopes to come to an agreement today or Thursday and has two candidates, including one from a BCS conference(USC). He said he will work the phones today hoping to put a deal in place.

“Once we get off the phone, we should have a clear, clear picture of where we’re going to go with that Aug. 30 game,” Ausberry said.

Negotiations continue with the help of ESPN, which is trying to arrange a game for national television.

“Even North Texas had to be involved with ESPN,” Ausberry said. “It took a lot of shifting things and moving everyone around.”

The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported on its college football blog Tuesday that North Texas traded an Aug. 30 game at LSU for a trip to Kansas State on the same day. After playing at home Sept. 6 against Tulsa, the Mean Green will play Sept. 13 in Tiger Stadium.

North Texas was originally scheduled to play LSU in 2009, but the game was moved last year. The Mean Green was also supposed to play Kansas State on Sept. 27, but switching the LSU game to Sept. 13 opened the door for North Texas to schedule K-State as its season opener.

Ausberry said he hopes the athletic department administrator at the unnamed school from a BCS conference will agree to play LSU.

“They’re talking with their coaches,” Ausberry said. “I’m hoping. We’ve got to make a decision here. I’m pressing them too.”

LSU wants a home and at home, and NO ONE will come.

As Verge has told quite a few people, Sept 13th was originally left open because many teams had open dates. One more than anybody, one contacted for 3 years:

Southern Cal.

Verge called those chickenshits for 3 FULL YEARS.

And when we called them on the carpet in December... they scheduled Ohio State instead.

That IS a fact.

They will not play us.

Period.

They will never play us unless they're forced to. For that matter USC will never play Florida on the road. They will never play UGA on the road. At least not now, or anytime soon. Sure they'll play Arkansas,or Auburn. Both were opponets USC knew they would match up against very well.

Not us.

So no, USC will never play any of us.

They will never play a team that will bust their image. And we can additionally thank the Rose Bowl for protecting that image, because had UGA gone there and blew them out, the Rose Bowl would have had it's last trash shot to pieces.

Now they have LSU breathing down their next as the true team of the new millenium, the last thing USC, the PAC 10,the Rose Bowl, or ABC

needed is an LSU blowout in Tiger Stadium-- or even worse in the Los Angeles, like we did to them in 1984.

LSU tried every angle. Even making fun of them.

It's one of the reasons why Miles called them out last year. That's why he said the things he stated about the PAC-10. (all true, buy the way, this year) That's also why Carroll gets pissed off at even the mentioning of LSU. So, the PAC 10 thing burned out.

--Option 2:

LSU turned their attention to a half dozen other

big name or big market schools- Texas, A&M, FSU, Wisconsin, Syracuse, Louisville, Rutgers, and yes, even Michigan.

All refused.

Texas doesn't want to play us because of recruiting. Right. A&M won't play us because we opted out when the SEC expanded in 1992. Now it's laughable. Louisville is afraid they don't have enough body bags. FSU and Rutgers wouldn't even call us back.

You name the excuse, we got it.

So LSU has the problem of trying to fill a last home spot, and no one wants to come first. LSU was running out of options, and about ready to lose a 3 million dollar payday at home.

-- LSU gets National Help

ESPN stepped in to try and help and make $$$ for themselves and others, thinking that no one would

refuse the national TV exposure.

The first damn game of the season, guys....with ESPN helping negoiate..... and with ESPN

offering YET MORE $$ and contacting many good schools.

Bottom line: No one will come in September, when the season is early, the weather is dripping hot, and LSU is got months to prepare. [/b]

That's what happens when you're LSU.

Nobody worth a damn outside the SEC will

play us now.
