Alternator swap

Recommended Posts

I picked up a HO 240 amp alternator that was in a 95 explorer. I have a 2000 explorer 4.0 sohc. I noticed that the ho alternator has an extra plug between the output terminal and the regular harness plug. I am wondering if alt will fit in my 2000 explorer and what if anything I need to change.

The extra wire I am talking about is the one between the harness plug and the output terminal.

Yeah actually I have a smaller pulley already installed on the alt makes it put out 170 amps at idle. The groves in the pulley are the same but if it becomes a problem I can take the pulley from the stock alt and use it.
