Thinking about making a lifes career in car audio. looking for input from anybody!

Do it on a side job. I would go to a trade school. Welding, auto body, carpentry ect. I'm a welder, but not working as one since I got laid off bc my area sucks big dick for it but welding is hard to learn but it's actually fun. I'm sorry about your past and I'm happy you told us what you did bc you stepping up. Trades schools are not that much and I'm sure a program can help you a little.
