Enclosure Type

I have an Alpine SWR-12D4 subwoofer and an Alpine MRX-M110 amplifier and I was first looking about building one of those boxes: http://www.caraudio.com/forums/enclosure-design-construction-help/137804-free-box-plans.html

But then, I found a website (see link) with several types (a lot) of enclosure. The problem is they don't say which one is better for what and I am a bit confused now: there are so many types (transmission line, bass reflex, etc.). I looked on Wikipedia for this but it did not really answered my question for which one is better. I contacted a guy who is making enclosure and has the same subwoofer and told me the T-line (1/4 wave) was by far the best, while others say L-Vent is the best. I don't know what to do, I hope one of you will be able to help me with this. Thanks.
