Where to crossover 8" subs in kicks

I figured I'd have a better chance getting answers here. I have a 8" rf p3 shallow in each kick. I was reading Steve's post on his Lexus and he said he got advice to treat them more as subs than as midbass.

So should I set the crossover low, like a sub? Or should I cross them over in the midbass range?

The quick answer is: as low as possible.

What is the F3 on the speakers and what enclosure? If just "sealed" in the kicks, with that tight a space, I would figure you really wouldn't have to worry too much about a high pass to protect them. I would high pass a bit above the F3 and low pass at or below the high end on the specs of the speaker. Tweak it from there to make it sound to your liking.
