Slow 07 Trailblazer Updated with new set up

Recommended Posts

Since I visit the site a few times a day and now and again give my two cents to some posts I figured I could post something better than just my thoughts. Of course with the title being "slow and boring" it means this will be a long build. Not because I'm lazy but because as with my post from the $100 bill I have a wife, two kids and six pets and bills so I am broke most of the time. The Army doesn't pay me that much but I make do.

Earlier this month I traded my Malibu in for a 07 Trailblazer. I wanted to do a big system and needed more room than what the Malibu gave me. Of course this just thrilled the wife but she still let me. So currently the only thing I have done is the radio with the nav add on that I have had for a while. And now here is the slow and boring part for at least the time being on what will be done....

Head unit- Pioneer AVH-P8400BH with the Pioneer AVIC-U220

Front Door- Focal 165 K2P

Rear Door- Focal 165 KBE

Amp- DC 175.4

Ordering next week:

Singer 350A ALT

Crescendo Mezzo 6.5

Q-logic kick panels (I am not that good at fiberglass)

XS Power 3400

XS Power 3100 (will order another one around Christmas)

CE Relay

Murder Mat (doors and rear hatch, will get more later for the roof and floor)

Fuses

Sky High speaker wire

When tax time comes I will order two DC Audio 15 XL's for the box. I am not sure about the box right now but get bored and had the wood so built one. Tuned at 35 from my calculations off of Torres. Nothing special about the box. Just MDF, 1.5 dowels for bracing, glued, liquid nailed and then resin inside and out. Tried to Bondo the outside but really with no luck. Was going to paint but my body filler job just sucked so through carpet on it. The box was just put in to test fit. Nothing is in right now.

Also have some TM battery terminals, reducers for the 175.4 and 1/0 gauge OFC sky high power and ground. Two runs of power and ground to the back, big three will be done also. Just waiting to get my stuff that I order next week and then will start putting everything in if the weather allows me to. At 37 the cold air and I don't get along too well..........and yes I'm just a old kid

My wife calls this the garage but I call it my shop. I'm not sure who is right but I spend more time out there than she does and we don't park anything in there......go figure.

This was just a test fit to make sure I could get it in and out. May change once I get the subs and hear everything but for right now I'm happy with it.

Amp rack maybe. If so will go between my rear seat and the box. Will have two 3100's between the box and the rear hatch (maybe one to start with and will upgrade to a second one when I can.IMG_1766_zps9b47bd13.jpgIMG_1767_zpse18aa669.jpgIMG_1768_zps992ec74b.jpgIMG_1769_zpsbbde41ed.jpg

To be honest I like JL but after looking at the forums here I decided to try DC. One of my older systems I had three JL audio 10w6's which I loved. I went to a couple other brands and then ran some 13tw5's in a 01 Sierra. Being shallow mount they didn't do what I wanted. I sold my truck and when I moved up to DE I bought a couple DC level 3 10's. I was impressed by their sound and how they would hit low's for only being 10's. There were in a sealed boxed to DC specs ran off a RE XTX500.1. I ran them on stock electrical and my amp decided to die. I wanted to do something bigger so sold the Malibu and now have the trailblazer. Hopefully in the next month or so I will get my alt, batteries and amps hooked up along with all my focal and crescendo components. Then it will just be a waiting game until tax time then will wait on the subs. I have talked to Cody on here and really enjoy the service that DC has. They are very personal with you and they are not out there just to sell you there stuff. Well I'm sure they are to some point but they really care about their customers and what you are trying to do. This of course my opinion and I have had JL, MTX, Rockford, Obsidian, Eclipse, Crunch, Pyle, and a couple others in my time. I keep telling my wife this is my last system but at 37 I think I may have some more left in me, maybe a wall at some point but right now want to be able to keep the back seat with the family. Sorry so long here. But just my thoughts here. As soon as stuff comes in I will update this as much as possible. May not take a bunch of pictures because I tend to just start putting stuff in and don't stop to take a lot of pics.

It sucks. This is the longest I have been without any type of system since I have been driving. I could probably through some stuff together just to get something in there but I really wanted to do it right and bigger this time so just "embracing the suck" as we say in the military

@FieroGrande, Thanks. Well nothing big going on here but yesterday picked up a 3sixty.3 and ordered my batteries. Shoped call and they are in so will pick them up tonight (XS 3400, 3100). Called Mechman and ordered a 250A alt for the vehicle. They are gone next week for SEMA so said would even leave the shop for a couple weeks. No problem, not like I needed it today anyways. Ordered some Crescendo Mezzo 6.5's, Q-logic kick panels (I'm lazy and pretty much suck with fibreglass), and the rest of my wire and fuses from Sky High. Will post pics sometime next week I guess when my stuff comes in. I know some people need to see the picture. That is all. lol
