Blake Farrar Posted April 16, 2014 Report Posted April 16, 2014 so im about to get my apine hd148bt hu and i was woundering if anyone knew the clipping volume???
TCooper Posted April 17, 2014 Report Posted April 17, 2014 Don't know the clipping volume. MAY vary slightly between units depending on tolerances that are set in production. Alpine I would think is pretty close. Just saying the "potential" is there. One might clip at say 35 and another might clip at 34 maybe. Then again, might be so close that they all clip at the same volume. Just would not be something I would trust without checking myself. The old rule of thumb is 3/4 volume for general set-up with no test equipment. As you guessed by my post so far though, my opinion is best to have it tested. If you don't have the tools to do it perhaps you could post for someone in your area to help you out that has a scope or a DD1. You could get the HU set and then do the gains on the amps at the same go. Alternatively, you could get all installed and then take it to a reputable shop to have them scope it for you. Of course, this would cost, but at least you would know and potentially save equipment by not clipping it. Just my 2 pence. Best of luck with it. Cheers
Blake Farrar Posted April 17, 2014 Author Report Posted April 17, 2014 im not to worried about it right now my system isnt even playing it has big problems and i cant find out whats wrong.
TCooper Posted April 17, 2014 Report Posted April 17, 2014 Saw some of your other posts. Maybe you could post a general area you are located and there may be someone close who could help you out/take a look at the system and see what is wrong. Maybe best on one of the other posts that is getting more exposure/answers.
