generally speaking (but not always true)

lower tuning = gain some ability to play lower notes but higher notes dont get as loud.

higher tuning = lose some ability to play lower notes but higher notes get louder.

box size and port size depend greatly too. like 95% of prefabs you can buy are garbage.

the different tuned boxes will make the sub sound better in quality or for SPL(loudness). So if you want a good sounding port your usually midhigh 20's. 40 hz tuned is going to be more for spl and wont hit every note as well. usually 32 is a good happy center of them. best of both worlds. it should sound good with the 15's if the box is well made. also it is very important to make sure your subs have the correct air space, look for sub specs to find out if there is enough cubic feet for the sub.

im going to go ahead and assume you should be alright running it in that box. The thing that is important tho is giving the subwoofer an environment where it is in the least amount of stress for the woofer to move. if your close your close. something that small shouldnt make a difference. i suppose i will ask, is that box for one sub that you have? or is the combined space 3.2?
