MatthewSladeBrake Posted May 1, 2014 Report Posted May 1, 2014 Hello everyone,I recently purchased a 2011 Mazda 3 S Sport with the bose sound system. My question is, how would I go about installing an amplifier for subwoofers without getting rid of everything else? Would a line out converter work, or is there some other way of doing this? I'm used to just installing a new head unit, sticking in some RCA's and being good to go, I've never worked with a bose system and I wish to keep everything as stock as possible.Thank you for any and all input!
MACnonsence6 Posted May 3, 2014 Report Posted May 3, 2014 if it has a factory sub you should be able to run your line out converter before that that way itll function as a sub line out. either way a line out is going to be your best bet if it doesnt have a factory sub tag into the rear speakers with the converter just did this on my cousins 01 impalla I picked up an MTX Sw1212 powered subwoofer today. This thing sounds amazing. 130 watts, 12" woofer with a passive 12" woofer tuned to 27 hz. Moving the pictures on the walls and my girl got wet from the bass when i showed her haha. Tonight should be good haha.
Facekicker Posted May 3, 2014 Report Posted May 3, 2014 iirc the Bose system has Low Level speaker outputs heading to the factory amp that you can splice RCA connectors into to run to your subwoofer amp. 2002 Monte Carlo Started a build log Fi, DC, Mechman, XS Power
Facekicker Posted May 3, 2014 Report Posted May 3, 2014 To elaborate... You'd use a hi/lo converter to tap into your rear speakers (after the amp) and thus get a signal for your subwoofer amp, and you can do this fine. But you've already got a low level input heading to your amp that you can simply tie in some RCA connectors to without buying and installing the hi/lo converter. Keeps your factory system intact. 2002 Monte Carlo Started a build log Fi, DC, Mechman, XS Power
