Kade
This is what came in the mail today. Call it an unboxing. Excuse the tons of pics, but I don't see very many people do unboxings of anything. Oh...What's this? Lettuce compare the specs... Specs on the back of the box. Specs on the birthsheet along with tests they run on the amp. (3 pics) 32.9% difference between advertised power and tested power "@ 14.4 Vdc" as said in the fine print. *slow clap* Comes with a CD that you use to set gains (per instructions) and I assume the other frequency tracks could be used for setting crossovers and more Hz specific gain settings. Correct me if I'm wrong. Comes with mounting screws and a tool for removing the plate that covers all your pots, switches, and screw holes for cables. And the amp. I'm not brave enough to crack it open and show the guts. I've owned a Hifonics 1200w Brutus, Hifonics 4-channel 600w Zeus, and a Planet Audio VX300.4 (If I recall correctly). The aesthetics of this amp is the most sleek of the 4. Has just as much weight and is as solid as the Brutus, which is like a 15lb. rock. That's all I can really say about it until I've heard it. Thanks for looking. I do have some questions about the PLC2 and how it works with this amp. Does it work as a master volume over all 5 channels like I thought? Is it or can it be used for independent bass control? What is the punch EQ and is it associated with the questions before? 2009 Dodge Caliber SXT (Silver) Deck: Pioneer X3600BHS Amps: RF P1000X5 Front: RF P16-S Rear: RF P1694 Subs: 1 RF P3D2-10 Cabling: Stinger 6 channel RCA, RF 4gauge kit, SkyHighCarAudio 16gauge speaker wire. Kade
For those who install sound dampening (dynamat-like stuff) on a regular basis... I salute you. It is a pain deep in my bunghole. I did all floors, rear walls, and 3 layers in the wheel well and I'm about ready to die after 75sq.ft. Killing me. Still have to do the doors. The doors paired with the speakers I chose put out really nice bass. So, I'm not too concerned about 110% coverage + sealing holes in the doors. I believe any little bit will be an improvement in my sound as well as killing extra road noise. 2009 Dodge Caliber SXT (Silver) Deck: Pioneer X3600BHS Amps: RF P1000X5 Front: RF P16-S Rear: RF P1694 Subs: 1 RF P3D2-10 Cabling: Stinger 6 channel RCA, RF 4gauge kit, SkyHighCarAudio 16gauge speaker wire. Kade
Alright, while I go upload pics. . . I was hooking up my radio this afternoon and it called for a tap on a 12v acc source. Cig lighter is what most chose on other sites. So, I did that. radio works. My P1000x5 was SUPPOSEDLY one of the models with RCA/remote auto turn-on. Meaning you don't need the remote wire. Anyways, wasn't the case with this amp. I just tapped the remote wire onto the cig lighter along with the radio power wire. I tested them separately and they worked, but I did not test them together before assembling my dash. Should have though... Now, I lost my 12v to the cig lighter. All fuses are good. I read that the TIPM needs to be reset. I have the cables removed from the battery to try the reset. If i can ever get the radio to turn on, I'll try the pioneer supplied remote turn-on. What do you guys think happened? Overload? 2009 Dodge Caliber SXT (Silver) Deck: Pioneer X3600BHS Amps: RF P1000X5 Front: RF P16-S Rear: RF P1694 Subs: 1 RF P3D2-10 Cabling: Stinger 6 channel RCA, RF 4gauge kit, SkyHighCarAudio 16gauge speaker wire. Kade
The sound dampening. This along with new tires dropped road noise by 15+ decibels. I could do another layer on the front floors or under the hood though. Amp test fit. This was the only spot to put the ground. Had to rig up a combo wrench with some adhesive to be able to hold the washer and nut. Only places I could get under the bolt were the 2 square openings. Paint scraped like a pro... nto a gromet that also has the A/C drain. 2009 Dodge Caliber SXT (Silver) Deck: Pioneer X3600BHS Amps: RF P1000X5 Front: RF P16-S Rear: RF P1694 Subs: 1 RF P3D2-10 Cabling: Stinger 6 channel RCA, RF 4gauge kit, SkyHighCarAudio 16gauge speaker wire. Kade
Bare door. Hole for the speaker cables. Couldn't figure out which delphi connectors I needed to avoid this. Oh well =) BAM! Kade
The front doors had an entire empty harness opening. Just fed the wires through. Didn't think they were pic worthy. Here are just random door pics with sound deadening. I must say, if you don't do your entire car with sound dampening like I did, at least do the doors. Sounds way better. 2009 Dodge Caliber SXT (Silver) Deck: Pioneer X3600BHS Amps: RF P1000X5 Front: RF P16-S Rear: RF P1694 Subs: 1 RF P3D2-10 Cabling: Stinger 6 channel RCA, RF 4gauge kit, SkyHighCarAudio 16gauge speaker wire. Kade
This is a pain. Relay to emulate a parking brake and I have to run separate power for switched 12v acc power to the head unit. Could someone decipher the fuse descriptions for me. I'm not sure which circuit to add the HU. I've read it was #13 or #16. 2009 dodge caliber if anyone wanted to google and give me a hand. Red wire needs extension to fuse box unless someone knows another spot in the cabin I could read for switched 12v Old dash out We had it working off the cig lighter for a few min. After I tried hooking the remote amp wire parallel with it, blew the fuse and tripped the tipm computer. Now, the deck won't even look at the cig lighter. Hence running the power via fusebox. Sucks. Idk what happened. 2009 Dodge Caliber SXT (Silver) Deck: Pioneer X3600BHS Amps: RF P1000X5 Front: RF P16-S Rear: RF P1694 Subs: 1 RF P3D2-10 Cabling: Stinger 6 channel RCA, RF 4gauge kit, SkyHighCarAudio 16gauge speaker wire. He was taking out the speakers so we could crimp new connectors for the amp>speaker wire 2009 Dodge Caliber SXT (Silver) Deck: Pioneer X3600BHS Amps: RF P1000X5 Front: RF P16-S Rear: RF P1694 Subs: 1 RF P3D2-10 Cabling: Stinger 6 channel RCA, RF 4gauge kit, SkyHighCarAudio 16gauge speaker wire.
