Awaiting_Equinox Posted July 12, 2014 Report Posted July 12, 2014 I am not new to car audio, however I am new to building sub boxes. I have my 4 15s kicker CVRs in two separate sealed boxes on two brutus 1600s wired at 2 ohms each pair, each sub seeing about 600 watts. This setup gets loud and low, I run them at full tilt all the time but I find myself wanting more bass. I was planning on buying more subs but I don't even know what these sound like ported. I need help with dimensions and what size to make the port and all that. I want a box that takes up my whole trunk I have a 99 Tahoe so theres plenty of room, I want all 4 subs facing up with a slot port or a square port like meades, tuned to about 32htz I mostly play music from 25htz to 35htz. this is my first attempt at building a box ever. any help is appreciated. bass and bewbs.. and beer
TDZ13 Posted July 13, 2014 Report Posted July 13, 2014 If you stick w/ the CVRs I'd run something in the neighborhood of 3.75ft3 per woofer w/ 45-60in2 of port per woofer. Double baffle and a hell of a lot of internal bracing. DL Torres box calc or post this up in the subs/enclosure section, prolli get more help there. Make sure to post up max dimensions that you're working with. Without them we'd be shooting in the dark to design something for ya. Btw what kind of electrical are u running? 2006 Hyundai Sonata Lx - Alpine CDA-9885 - Rainbow CSX Comps - (2) 12" Sundown Zv4 - Sundown 5K - 4.6ft3 @ 33hz w/ 6" aeros sealed off in trunk - 250a Singer alt, Kinetik 1400, (2) 2400s - 150.4 @ Dash as of now
Awaiting_Equinox Posted July 13, 2014 Author Report Posted July 13, 2014 thanks for the help man I went ahead and posted in the enclosure section and got some help already hopefully be building a box sooner or later and my electrical isn't all that good, running 2 hifonics brutus brx1600's both pairs of subs wired at 2 ohms so there seeing roughly 600 watts rms each, in total 2400 watts rms. I do have some voltage drop my truck has a stock 140 amp and I have the big 3 done well not really because I need one more ground to the engine block, other than that the stereo dosnt shut off when at full tilt I get nasty voltage drop especially on low notes but I plan to upgrade to some batteries that are meant for audio like kinetic or XS bass and bewbs.. and beer
