Help for kicker 15" L7

Hi all, over the last few weeks I have been doing a lot of reading up on building a box for my kicker L7 and I have learnt a lot but not enough lol. I have a ppi 1300.1d Sedona amp running it and my car is a mk2 Leon, boot is 39inches wide, 19inches high, 15 inches top depth and 20 inches bottom depth. I made a box to these exact dimensions with the 3" port and sub facing rear of car but I'm sure there isn't enough space in front of the sub or port for it to sound right and it's tuned to 35hz. I'm now trying to figure out a new box tuned to 33hz as that's what seems to be recommended and also keep the front double baffled and a few dowels in to keep the back and ports rigid and keep the net volume as high as I can. I was wondering if it would be best to shorten the overall width of the box by 3 inches and have the slot port on the side instead of front but there doesn't seem to be that much info about it? Also I am from England so we work in mm not inches so the mdf is 18mm and the dowels are 28mm being the thickest I can get. Any and all help figuring out the best box I can build for my boot would be greatly appreciated and as soon as I get a chance I will add a pic of my box I built the other day so you can see how much space there isn't lol.
