03' Trailblazer - Dayton/Pioneer Build

Recommended Posts

Waiting for this singer alt is driving me batty. Days feel like weeks. I just want to be loud :(...

On another note, i'm working with a friend who's in the hobbyist electric car community. If all goes well i should have 200ah of LiFePO4 tucked above my rear drivers side wheel by summer.

Don't trust a shop but you personally just smoked two decks, makes sense.

How do you like the Dayton mids and tweets? I have been thinking about doing something similar. I have a RF Punch component set, but I've been thinking about doing something like you have and utilizing the dsp capabilities of my 80prs.

I love them as drivers. My only issue is my designer 6.5"s, being mounted so low and off axis. With my Pioneer 8604, even after the MiniDSP correction on the highs, they get loud enough to hurt my eardrums. For the price i'm blown away at the resolution and frequency range they're able to reproduce. This summer or fall i'm probably going to upgrade from 6.5"s to 10"s in my doors for higher sensitivity, other than that though, i love them. They kick the snot out of most component sets i've heard.

If you want the "silkie" tweets though, mount them behind something. Their domes are actually sticky, and are total dust magnets.

I'll keep that in mind about the silkies. I've been itching to change something in my set up, and been kicking myself for not running my doors active yet lol so maybe I'll buy the mids and tweets soon and get started on that.

When your singer alt is out for delivery and you keep peeking through the window, waiting for USPS.

So the Singer 250 is in, and at full tilt i have zero light dimming with the brights on. For a trailblazer, no dimming is a BIG deal. Time for a bigger amp, just need to decide between the ampere, crescendo, and twisted 3500.

Messed around and dropped my amp budget on a mattress. Visions of fully loaded BTL's dancing in my head, but need to wait for a few more checks to drop before i can get my ultimax moving properly. Probably going for the twisted 3.5k.

Welp, found 400-800w for free. Was digging through some old boxes and found a Rockford 1501BD i completely forgot that i owned. Hooked it up, twisted the gain, and it bumps. Way more power than the pioneer, but not hating on the pioneer at all for the price.

Also added 160mil more deadener to the roof and i'm STILL getting more flex than i want. No clue how i'm going to remedy that.
