Head Unit Opinions

Recommended Posts

Hello SMD Forum,

I have a 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix and I was wondering if anyone else has had experience with installing Double Din head units in them? I have tried looking for an installation kit/youtubing other grand prix installations and it seems they don't make a double din installation kit? Am I wrong? In this case, what shall I do?

I had just ordered 4 y splitters for rcas btw. ( Thanks SHCA)
What I am looking for:6.2in. Double Din, 4v preouts, can have ^^2 or 4 preouts (Running 2 amps, 1 4channel and 1 monoblock) USB/Aux/Touchscreen with a somewhat fast processing speed?

In the 2-300$ price range?
Thanks for the opinions in advance!

Sweet, thanks. I had a pioneer touchscreen before. But i couldnt exactly remember if it was in the car i drive now or my previous one. I think it was this one because i was looking for an installation kit for my car a while back. Anyways, the one i had before was like 240$ and it had sucha slow response time that it pissed me off so i switched back to my single din, with 1 pre out. I think its a bit outdated and i want to try and give the ol touchscreen thimg another chance.

The 3700BHS is the best you're going to get under $300.

And if you want that double din done right,

http://shop.doubledmods.com/Pontiac-Grand-Prix-97-03-Double-Din-Bezel-GRNDprixDDbezel.htm

You can send in your bezel and save $90 off that price.

Other than that, you're left modding the dash yourself. HVAC controls shift down and you'll need some bondo experience. Then sanding and sanding and sanding. Then paint with SEM products. Probably ~$30 in product..... but hour and hours of your time and doubtful it will turn out as good as the pics in the link I posted.
