zazzn Posted January 18, 2016 Report Posted January 18, 2016 Hi All. I'm trying to bring my 87 supra in to modern age sound. I bought this car 15 years ago and since then the sound has been horrible. I mean absolutely horrible. Several issues with the build that need to be considered. I have a loud exhaust system since the car makes about 500 WHP, and while I will be doing something to quell it a bit, the whole car is noisy as there are solid mounts and other squeaks and rattles of a 30 year old car. The latest item's I purchased are entry level, as I'm not trying to win any competitions, just trying to enjoy a clear sound system. Front's Alpine SPS-610C components for the front Rears Alpine SPS-610C's as well but not using the tweeters RockFord Fosgate Prime 600-4 Deck is from 2006 and it's a Kenwood KDC-MP919 with 4.5V preouts SUB is a SSL powered sub, being replaced with a Pioneer slim 10" sub First the SSL cannot keep up as you don't hear it when moving above 30MPH (car is too noisy) Second the tweeters are WAY too bright and actually make it uncomfortable listening, using the deck to adjust out the highs makes the sound come out tinny and almost like an echo as I have to use max adjustment to remove the highs. If feels like there is ABSOLUTELY no mid bass in the car and I'm not sure what to do about it. Should i swap out the rear SPS-610's for some other midbass speaker? Do I need a better quality front speaker like a Hertz, Focal or such? Remember, my goal is not realistically to win anything but to try to obtain the sound quality of my ML system in my Lexus IS-F ANY help would be appreciated!! ANY! Some notes, the 6.5" speakers are half blocked by the door skins, as the speaker size originally was 3.5". I obtained a 92 door pod which uses a 6.5" speaker but the door skin blocks part of the speaker. The rears are using a pod from C7 Carbon which allows it to sit right behind the seats of the driver/passenger. The Tweeters are in the window triangle area of the front of the car using a 3d printed pod that I had made. Thanks,
