JL 10W7AE enclosure help

I just recently traded a SA series 15 for a JL 10w7 AE and was wondering how big the enclosure should be. Should I make it the 1.5cuft of air space that JL recommends or do these subs like bigger boxes. I know JL's box recommendations don't include the different displacements like woofer or bracing so do I just make an enclosure the 1.5cuft just make it a little bigger to compensate for the displacements or can I go alot bigger like 2 or 3 cuft. It's going in an 80's K5 Blazer so box size isn't an issue, I just want to get the most out of this woofer and I don't plan on it being louder than the sundown I had just want to slap as hard as I can. And yes I am going ported it's the only way to go in my book.
