Mrop
Hi! So we started to make our first dB Drag -car. We have some experience in car audio, i got a 7 years of experience and Nico has around the same years. I have mostly made builds and videos, he has been repairing subwoofers and amplifiers. Now we start from Zero and aiming high just to see what we get. Our motto: Give everything you got, be grateful what you get. Car is Old rusty 1996(i think?!) Fiat Punto. We don't have subs, amps or batteries yet. Just KEMPPI MinARC Mig and alot steel. First episode: I will be posting every episode on its own post as i will be updating this later on. I just want all the episodes to be in right order now. All comments, suggestions and help is welcome. Mrop
At first we started with demolishing alot. We planned to use OEM floor, but the sides were so rusty that we needed to cut the floor from inside to get the welds done, so we planned to remove old floor off so we can make it whole again. At this time we knew that the floor must be as close as OEM it can be, so we welded only one sheet of metal (1mm thick) (around a third of the OEM thickness) www.peranurkka.net
Mrop
This time we found out that the whole back of the cars floor can be removed, so we did that. We want to make the enclosure as low as possible and make room for batteries. In this video i am explaining about the thickness of the OEM floor and first welds on the OEM floor. www.peranurkka.net
Mrop
So it was the time for the first bracings! The front floor has been replaced and the underside of the bracing is now visible. We want the enclosure to be so low that the subs start from the floor level. 2x18" Neo subs. www.peranurkka.net
Mrop
In this video i am explaining alot of the dimensions we want to test in the enclosure. We want to use 80Hz wavelength as much as possible, so everything will be close to 2meters maximum dimensions. Also the measurements inside the enclosure is shown here. www.peranurkka.net
Mrop
So we are not professional welders. Nico is a construction worker and i am a caraudio service manager, so we both are not very good welders, but we are learning as we do the project. In this video you can see how the cage is coming up fast. And we are showing off some welding good and bad www.peranurkka.net
Mrop
In this video we made HUGE decision. We will take the roof off partially for now. As we need to get the welds done at the top. Also we know that the OEM skin needs to be intact, so we will not touch the OEM panel at b-pillar -> forward, it will stay OEM. Just taking littlebit off to get the welds done. www.peranurkka.net
Mrop
In this video we ran out of gas... But we tested with stickwelding. It did not end well... www.peranurkka.net
Mrop
In this video Our cage is getting its totem pole! IT starts to look like a real bass enclosure. www.peranurkka.net
Mrop
First mistakes, like REALLY MISTAKES!! We wanted to add another sheet of steel on floors (raise the total thickness to around 2mm) OEM is 3mm. But do not use glue of anysort between the sheets, just don't. www.peranurkka.net
