VU Meter

Recommended Posts

I'm looking for a VU meter like Steve's but as I want to do an project that may end up destroying it (or I may find i don't like the outcome) I would like to find a cheaper one (doesn't need to be as accurate or reliable as its just a test), though if i do like it and it does work i would like to buy Steve's version.

Most of the ones i find online seem to only run 1 dim led per level(?) and all previous levels stay lit while his has 3 bright ones that run like the old style needles.

Anyone know of any? I did find one that has a mode for that but it's input is limited to 5 volts (steve's looks like its amp output voltage) so id have to tap my rca(?) or run the speaker outs from my deck to it which would give me full range read out unless i use a crossover maybe?

heck if anyone has one of Steve's that has burnt leds but works id be willing to buy that off ya if you'll let it go cheap.

Ideas, tips, suggestions?
