JL Marine, back plate detached

Long time reader, first post. Was sent a JL Audio Marine 12” infinite baffle sub M12IB6-SG-TB that was used as a demo in a boat. Due to either shipping or just prev. owner the back plate on the bottom of the magnet was totally detached. It looks like the plate is mainly a marine dust cover that is glued around the perimeter of the plate but I’m not very familiar with this subs construction. It doesn’t seem to be part of any other framing or the magnet.
Any idea if I can just glue or epoxy the plate back on and if so what type of adhesive? Also is this plate simply a dust cover or do I need to be concerned about anything else?
