2 new PT vids:

Here is one of the hatch, I guess I have never posted one yet. I don't really like to open the hatch at high volume unless I am at a carshow. No bass back there just 3-way midbass, mid and tweet. 60w RMS per side.

Here is one of the new ports. I really like the difference, the added depth makes for a much fuller sound overall. The subs move more without the polyfill, but the fiberglass on the inside of the walls is not the smoothest, I was still learning at the time. Carpet is not trimmed around the tunnel yet! I know, ....its a work in progress! And the center channel is getting full range from a 2 way crossover, so I need to feed it from the high side of the amplifiers one of these days.

This song is badass and has become my new demo song for the PT, it is very dynamic and powerful. Shiny Toy Guns' version of Major Tom.

For the Mazda, KnuKonceptz Kolossus amp installation kit - 4 gauge; and a Pac SWI-ECL2 steering wheel control adapter so I can get factory controls back.

I am waiting on a new prefab sub ring. I did not like the pod I did for the sub enclosure and ordered a new one to fiberglass directly to the opening in the box; it will look better in the end.

Gotta love the KnuKonceptz logos! One for each car!

And I finally got around to wrapping the Mazda door handles in burlwood vinyl to match the dash inserts.

One step forward, 2 steps back.

The pod just would not have looked right around the edges and would have required a lot of sanding, and I made the mistake of cutting out the speaker hole in the carpet before I resined it, and you guessed it- the resin released the 3M spray adhesive and I ended up with a wrinkle in the resined carpet.

So back a few steps, I am going to use 1/2" x 1/2" square to make 3 rails along the edge and staple some thinner fabric right to the railing for a flush edge all the way around.

It'll look much better. Then the whole thing will get carpeted. I still have to run the 4 gauge power line in the car and mount the amp, but I did get the RCAs and remote line run.

Box is DONE! I only have the 4 gauge power line left to run, and still have to mount the amp and panel into the trunk, but it's getting close to being done.

Ended up with 3 layers of glass cloth on it, and sanded it down, not perfect - but does not have to be for carpeting.

Sprayed the inside with some bedliner.

Spent the next 2 hours carpeting, this was my first time carpeting with compound curves and it was difficult. Had to make one seam on the back of the sub end of the enclosure but it came out pretty nice.

Box is in, and sounding GREAT! This sub is everything I expected from Eclipse, very well made and very high quality. This is the very first run and it is not broken in yet, so I am not pushing it yet.

The box is not built specifically for the car, it was built to Eclipse specs and and for me to practice fiberglassing and carpeting compound curves. It is the first time I have worked with glass for a sub application. The sub is also angled in towards the center of the car very slightly. It is port tuned to 25hz. Bass Box Pro 6 shows it's response curve flat all the way from 25hz-100hz with a very slight bump right at 25hz. It is very clean and smooth sounding.

Simple run of Knukonceptz 4 gauge:

Amp is temporarily mounted on the box where the rear seats fold down until I can work some more on the side panel.

Here is Vid 1 of 3. Vid #3 will have the full sound of the song. It is Ben Jelen's "Come on".

No sound deadener yet so the rear bumper cover is noisy, the trunk lid and rear deck seem ok, but the whole rear of the car will get some Damplifier Pro soon.
