Crest factor is the ratio of the zero to peak value to the RMS value of a load current wave from...in simplified terms, the ratio of peak current to RMS current the power supply is able to provide. For example that 3:1 P/S may be capable of providing 100A RMS current, but output peaks of 300A. Make sense? A half-wit gave you a piece of his mind, and you held on to it.
