Jackal_AR Posted July 11, 2025 Report Posted July 11, 2025 Hello, I am looking at the M1000 and M1400 specifically. Looking to do new systems for two different trucks, both with 150A alternators, using AC LC2i LOCs. I have reached out to MMATS every possible way except for by phone and haven't heard anything back. If I can get the bulk of my stupid questions answered, I will absolutely make time over lunch to call them up and ask a few specific questions, place order, etc. (ETA: After a few attempts, I was able to get him on the phone. My number was showing as SPAM. He said to fuse at about 80A for the 1000 and 100A for the 1400, (which could draw 140A at full tilt, momentarily) and even suggested I go w/ the 2000w amp.) Can anyone help me out with the current draw / fusing and wire gauge requirements for both amps? I used to run a Cadence A7 @ 1,432w using 80A maxi-fuse and never had an issue, however when I looked at the DD SS1200 or w/e it is, they told me 100A for that imported turd. Are the cooling fans what enables these new amps to be so small? Maybe some circuitry / efficiency gains over the last 20 years I'm not aware of? How loud are these fans? Amps will be in the back seating area vs. a trunk. Subsonic filter? Any reason to choose a .5, 1, or 2 Ohm unit aside from enduser needs for a particular load? Are there other US made amps I should be considering around this same price point? How do you say "MMATS"? I'm curious that the consensus is on their QC and CS. Thanks!
Jackal_AR Posted August 18, 2025 Author Report Posted August 18, 2025 Ended up with an M1000.1 and an M1400.1. They are super nice. 60A fusing for the M1000 (1,200wrms) and 80A for the M1400 (1,600wrms). Running a Monster12 on the 1000 and a Juggernaut 15 on the 1400. The 1000 gain is only about 8 o'clock and the 1400 about 10 o'clock. They just seem to get "warm", so far. Both will take a 2ga. wire. Used 4ga on the 1000 and 2ga on the 1400. No fans or subsonic filters. Running both off an LC2i Pro at about 4v.
