I agree with everything except for the back pressure part. A N/A car needs alot more back pressure than a turbo car does. The only time your turbo suffers because of exhaust is if your pipes are too large for the turbo. For example, my eclipse needs a 3" straight exhaust for turbos from the stock T-25 up to 50 trims and larger if I were to get a 4" exhaust I would have spooling problems because there wouldn't be enough exhaust pressure. To the OP tho check you turbo by checking the shaft play if it moves at all that turbo is on its way out. But turbo whine is normal and music to my ears.
