95_1500 Posted July 1, 2008 Report Posted July 1, 2008 Alright guys, im going to do a 3 way stage setup with 6.5" TB midbass, 6.5" dayton mid, 2 tweets on 3 way crossovers. Im also using dayton 4" mids with tweets on 2 way crossovers. ( This will be on a sundown sax 100.4 and channels 1 and 2 will be the 6.5's because they are each 50wRMS and the 4" on channels 3 and 4 bc they are only 30wRMS) My question is with the 3 way crossover, how do you find out the impedance at the amp without actually paying for it, wiring it and measuring with a dmm? The tangband and dayton are each 4 ohm so how does a crossover affect the impedance at the amp. I would guess the crossover is wired in paralell on the inside so i would see a 2 ohm load. If this is the case my next question which i believe i am correct, you can wire multiple channels to different ohm loads (1 and 2 @ 2 ohm, 3 and 4 @ 4ohm) as long as the final load the amp sees is no less than its lowest impedance? jmsonoma03 Posted July 1, 2008 Report Posted July 1, 2008 yes you can run the front channels at 2ohm and the rear at 4ohm or 2 ohm as long as the minimal impedence is met. and far as the crossovers if all the speakers are 4ohm the final impedance should be at 4 ohm it might depent on the crossovers them self though. good luck
