the LVS were awesome SQL subs

I have a ritual called "terminator". I crouch in the shower in the "naked terminator" pose. With eyes closed I crouch for a minute and visualize either Arnie or the guy from the 2nd movie. I then start to hum the T2 theme. Slowly I rise to a standing position and open my eyes. It helps me get through my day. The only problem is if the shower curtain sticks to my terminator leg. It sorta ruins the fantasy.

The whole idea of the LVS was-

1) Flash- eye catching

2) Prove that spaced apart spiders in a configuration like that will never rub, and keep the voice coil aligned perfectly possible

3) more moving mass weight for better low end reproduction

great transient response I believe was a part of that concept to

so it had spiders in each basket, and what was there a plate that bolts ontop the basket with a hole in the middle, so the vc can go through..?

HMMMmmm.

Imagine inverting it.

You said you had all those parts... did you read the above

LVS 18 is 10" spider frame, 12" spider frame, and 18" spider frame with a 10" aluminum adapter plate, and a 12" adapter plate, and a 4" hole in the middle of each plate

The biggest issue is the extremely long former that weighs a ton in the speaker world probably about triple the weight of a standard coil, the former was mil 8 I believe, very thick and rigid

But you can do something like that anyways, its a Memphis design, and is patented

There is 2 other companies that use that same design, but I cant tell you, or Id have to kill you

Hmm. But this would be a custom built woofer..

I know if you take a fiero and put a ferrari kit on it, both are patented, what says you cannot do that? its not like I'm marketing it.

I'm not looking to 100% replicate the LVS. just like the fact that there were multiple baskets. Its like the square woofer thing, I've seen alot of companies with square subs, which i thought was kickers design, but now mtx and credence and stuff have square subs.

I could use mach 5's baskets though, right?

a 10,12,and 18 basket is around 60 bux. not bad.

Just for the former/voice coil. I thought I read that the LVS's was extended with PVC?

got a link to those man??

the baskets

And hells no, no PVC

just alum former

PVC would be over weighting the moving mass to where the glue beads would be ripping apart

I know a great voice coil company I can contact

but again, about $100-150 set up fee, then the cost of the coil

Unless, like what I have done before, use a standard height coil that will just catch a glue bead with the spider landing, and use a round piece of 1/4" MDF/hardboard, cut it to about the size of the VC ID, epoxy it in place, and use a hollow alum rod to go to the top cone, with another MDF ring epoxied to that

Straight frankenstien sub there

yeah could do something like that.

Would it last though? I guess if you glue it up right it shouldn't budge.

I was thinking you could glue in another piece of whatever there made of and make a joint.
