Sub Placement

Before i ask the question i wanna state that i have 2 sub enclosures in my car (i know i know), one is a home built carpeted and sealed enclosure that holds two 12"s. The other is a premade single 12" enclosure. The home built enclosure is pushed to the very back of my truck and the other is right up against it (as seen in my pic). The trunk does not shut.

Now then, today during school i was thinking about re arranging my enclosures since i have some free space and thought i could increase the sound quality by at least a by little. So when i got home i decided to take the single 12" enclosure out of the trunk, shut the trunk (there is about a 4 inch gap because the amps that are mounted on the back of my seat don't allow it to shut all the way) and set it in the middle of my back seat.

After all the re arranging i decided to test it out, to me surprise it was quite a bit louder. Do you think the gap in between the seat and trunk acts as another port? Eh idk tell me what you think.
