FiBTLforlife Posted January 15, 2009 Report Posted January 15, 2009 i own a 1999 GMC sierra truck and right now i have a 12'' Fi BTL for life installed in my truck. I am planning on taking out the center consol of the truck and making it just a 2 seater. doing this i was going to use this space for more cuft for my box. my plan was to build the box similar to how i have it now with it going behind box the seats but also have it come up the middle. and have the port in the middle top were the console use to by. Prob will use a square port like Steve uses. my question is, with the box coming up the middle like it will, would this interact with the DB any? will it affect my output or air flow any? I've had pep tell me this but i dont think it will make to big a diff...box will be around 3.4-3.7 cuft 32hz 2 AQ 10'' HDC3 copper subs 1 3500d AQ amp 146.3db on TL with stock electrical in single cab truck at 32hz RESULT: 1st place at comp, 3rd overall out of 20 cars
RamenNoodles Posted January 15, 2009 Report Posted January 15, 2009 Yes, it will fuck up the air flow inside of the box. the air and sound waves want to take the easiest way out with least amount of resistance. Thats why very basic boxes with smooth internals work the best because they are simple. How much power will you have on the BTL? 3.7 cubes is kind of a lot for just a 12 btl. mines in 2.6 internal after displacement to 34hz. Diablo Audio Technologies Fi Car Audio Ascendant Audio
