numerous freinds of mine all went out and bought 200 to 300 dollars head units jsut so they can have there ipod hooked up with out using a fm transmitter. i was wondering how it could be possible to hook up the ipod to a stock unit. someone told me to run rca cables fromt he ipod to the back on the unit is this true? or what else would work?

you're soooooo much better off buying one of those 2-300 dollar h/u's with ipod control

if you really want, check out peripheral, axxess, soundgate, and pac. for a lot of vehicles they offer hardwire aux in's, ipod control, etc.

in most cases the best you can hope for is a hardwired fm modulator, which when it is all said and done is going to be near the same price as a new deck, but lower quality and no options for exppansion (like usb, cd changer, navi, rca outputs for amps, stuff like that)

deal with your fuzzy reception or horrible quaility from one of those tape deck headphone things, or get a deck that does ipod

pioneer 5/6 series are fantastic, i'd go so far as to say the best, the 600 remembers what song you were on, has alphabet search, link search, a great screen, tons of features, good rca's, good options, etc.

alpine's work alright, the ida series is the best, cda's i never liked for ipod, they restart you at A every time, so scrolling through to find a song can be a hassel if you have a lot

kenwood's 09 models are awesome, the 08 are pretty good, but share the same problem as the alpine

Build: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/ind...hl=avalon+build

monster/rockford/kicker/stinger cables, pioneer source, jbl highs/amps, kinetik/shuriken batts, iraggi alt, dei security, dc subs(atleast for now)
