Weird Pioneer Hu Problem

ok, had a totalled navigator at work and the owner couldnt get his radio out b/c he didnt have one to replace the pioneer with. so after he gave the vehicle up i went and snatched the radio. it was working in the navigator

i bring it home wanted to hook it up to a battery and see if there was any cd inside before i go make a quick hustle selling it.

red and yellow to positive

black to negative

wont power on, wire makes the contact spark letting me know i have good contact just no power on the radio, and the fuse behind the wore harness on the back of the radio is fine to.

im no amature to car audio but this one has me.

i got one of those, hmm, make sure the faceplate is connected good? does faceplate even move? and did u try hittin the reset button?

i forgot about this thread, but its sorta fixed

the face would not move its shut completly, we took the radio apart and jumped the motor out for the face to rotate down. when you give it power, it turned on and it closed up.

really really weird, anyway we found that the ribbon going from the face panel to the radio itself has 2 really small pinholes you can only see by putting a flashlight behind it. turns out the ribbon cable is $50 and a common problem.

im not going to fix it, at least not right now. if you rotate the face down, and power it up now it plays perfect, just cant put the face up or it turns off when that cable shifts.

ive seen like 3 or 4 radios wtih those faces and that same problem

great radio for a few years, then the cable wears and it shorts and does that kinda funky stuff
