siucsaluki11
So...Im not going back to stock, ive blown that twice in 2 years now. So im thinking posi or a locking diff. Im not too knowledgeable when it comes to matters under the hood or involving the drivetrain. Which would be a better choice. I know Eaton is supposed to be a good name. Any and all help is appreciated. Also, where would be a good place to look that has fast reliable shipping. This is my DD and im kinda hunting for a job at the moment so i need it back in action ASAP. Thanks in advance for your help. pokertramp
How did it go 2 times in 2 years? Do you beat on the truck? Who installed it? Is yours a 4x4? The 7.625 in rear is the same as the 7.5 rears of other models. You have to be very careful with putting a posi in one as these rears are not the greatest. If yours is not a 4x4 you can swap out the whole rear for a 4x4 unit and they have a locking diff standard for 2000 I believe. The other option and probably the best one is get a custom built rear, probably a 12 bolt or a ford 9 inch rear.

siucsaluki11
also, this is my DD, i dont tow, and the system isnt that big yet. Someday i imagine it will make the blazer noticeably slower off the line...What should my ratio be 3.23, 3.42, 3.73? Seeing as you have a 4x4 you need to closely match the front gear ratio with the rear. If the rear is too high, it can cause problems. You will have to go to a junk yard and see if they can give you a beefier unit from a different truck. I think you can put a Ford 8.8 from an Explorer I believe with a little modification. Best bet is a junk yard or mechanic. You are going to be spending at least $600 most likely either way.
