Most likely your data is still on the drive... if you could slave it into windows there's third party file recovery programs you can use to recover some of the files... I own a few and have used them on past occasions. (150GB of music was *accidently deleted*). Was able to fully recover the data and on several other computers as well.

If you need program names just PM me, it's a fairly simple process as long as the drive hasn't been completely wiped clean you should be able to recover the data that went missing.

I will say this. Geek Squad ran by Best Buy is a very organized outfit. I personally use their itemized service index as my pricing guide. I shoot for in store half price on house calls for everything they do not including parts and still make a damn good hourly wage and offer my clients the absolute best deal available. I make one grand exception and that is for Data backup. Geek squad fucks you in the ass in this realm so I do it for free just for the grandiosity factor.

That is actually what this thread is about and I have personally lost more data in one nasty lightning strike then I could ever buy back on Bill Gates salary so I take special interest in this arena.

What's even worse is I think I could have recovered all that data had I known what I know today but was fucked over by a local shop tech who didn't give a fuck what I had on my drive so I share some certain information freely.

I'm not even lying when I say that I would rather see my house burn down in flames then loose my hard drive again. Albums and albums and albums of pictures and music on a simple 80gb data drive.

This is extreme but if you feel as vehement about your data as I did then you might learn something from me. I lost pictures of the craziest years of my life. I'm talking about naked chicks makin out with each other, personal porn vids, live music recordings of shows I went to. Words can't describe what I lost.

Your info is probably good to go if you play your cards right.

Honestly, just plug your drive into your parents computer and check bios and see if your drive registers.

Fuck a dummy machine you weren't hit by a virus bro you are good to go. Depending on the bios manufacturer you will need to hit f2 or del at the very beginning of your boot process. Don't hold the key down but tap it rapidly right after you turn the machine on. The first bios screen will be standard cmos features and that will display all hard drives hooked up and working on the system. If you hook up your hard drive to your parents machine it should display two hard drives there. If it doesn't then you should really question the integrity of your drive. Too much to type so I'm gonna pm you my personal info if you want to get your shit back, hit me up

The computer is still covered by Best Buy's "Warranty" so I can crack it open with losing that warranty and my mom throwing a shit fit.

Although, she did mention that I might be getting this computer when I leave in August for College.
