white4d96
The version I got of this song off iTunes is really staticky. Not so much on headphones, but ridiculously so through my car speakers. I was wondering if it is supposed to be like this, or if the song is clipped, or what. Any ideas? Quote Too many projects, too little time... Million dollar question though: the song sounds like shit in my car, but could all the static and pop-ness(?) be bad for my speakers? I don't know why it owuld be, but then again...I'm not exactly seasoned at this stuff. Quote Too many projects, too little time...

I downloaded a song off youtube and converted it to mp3 and what not. it had hella crackling as soon as the bass would hit. just in the highs. I thought it was clipping so I wait until I get home to check it on audacity and it has tiny little clips here and there not in the spots I thought unlike other songs that are pure red (if you know audacity) keep thinking more and come up with this... the crackling and "pop-ness" is a sound at all basics. if it is not clipping it should not harm your speakers. it just sounds bad to the ear and aesthetically unpleasing causing us to think it is bad for the speakers. white4d96
How could I check for clipping? I don't have Audacity... Quote Too many projects, too little time...
thehoe92
How could I check for clipping? I don't have Audacity... get audacity its free and really easy to check. just turn on "view clipping" and every time you open a song the red is whats clipping. it is SOO useful. and thats an understatement. I think your correct. As long as nothings clipping and all equipment can handle the lows and highs thrown at it there should be no problems. Who woulda thought a multimillionaire cant record a song correctly. Go Figure. Quote 2010 Silverado 18" DC XL 18 DC 2k XS Power Batts
