loburbon
it all depends on the sub. but a good rule is 12-16 per cube. dd's like 20 Quote 2000 gmc yukon 4 sundown Zv3 15's 4 dd m2a's kenwood kdc-x994 2 batcap 4000's 1 batcap 2000 dual alts. 154@37hz and climbing http://www.cardomain.com/ride/3231683 http://www.myspace.com/torque150
aznboi3644
I understand how to calculate port volume. I'm saying that port area should also be calculated with applied power also not just net volume.
rckstar
okay so its best to ask the manufacturer wats the recommended port arae for their subs, what do you mean by applied power ? loburbon
dont worry about applied power, if you have any common sense at all build it and tune it to your liking. i do this for a living and i build boxes daily. what are your dimensions? aznboi3644
saying don't worry about the power application is retarded. a 12" inch sub on 200 watts will need a fraction of the port area a 12" sub powered by 1000 watts needs. Any GOOD box builder accounts for this also. I'm trying to help people. It's the details that matter...saying applied power is irrelevant is very noobish. loburbon
The only time it's relavent is if he's running more then rated power. If he gets specs for the subs he's using he doesn't need to worry about it. Each sub has different specs, look at dd the 500 series has different specs then the 9500 series. Now are you going to build a box for a 500 series based on 9500 specs? No your not, and your not gonna run 5000 watts on a 450rms sub either. So for the average box build you don't have to worry about power app. So the only noob comment is yours. How many boxes have you bulit anzo? So before you go running your mouth think first. loburbon
I've been doing this for 15 years, and it's real simple, a person using winisd isnt going to worry about applied power. a good box builder as you say would only use winisd for a basic normal build. your not going to use winisd when designing a box like the one in my yukon. your not going to use it when designing a wall. there's too many varibles when building those types. so once again he's asking about winisd not bass box or bass box pro. winisd is a great program for normal non power insane builds. but your 5 years trumps my 15 years. i guess i'll turn all my customers to you from now on. i guess all my usaci wins and state records were flukes. man i wish i knew then that i was building boxes wrong Edited June 1, 2009 by loburbon Quote 2000 gmc yukon 4 sundown Zv3 15's 4 dd m2a's kenwood kdc-x994 2 batcap 4000's 1 batcap 2000 dual alts. 154@37hz and climbing http://www.cardomain.com/ride/3231683 http://www.myspace.com/torque150
