Speaker cuts out at higher levels?

So yeah, When I had my alpine in, my left (driver) side speaker would cut out at higher levels. I thought it was a wiring problem so I rewired it all. I now have a different deck. When I turn it up high, it seems like both start to cut off and on so I rewired both sides. Still happening. Anyone have any idea as to why? I have a Power Bass S-c6 6.5" component set that is rated at 75RMS/210 PEAK. Do you think it is cutting off and on because it can't handle the power? Could it be the Xover? I never had this problem with my stock speakers.

if they are wired to the head unit, they are probably only seeing ~15 watts each, quite a bit under the 75 they say they can handle. If anything they may be getting a clipped signal and are cutting out

Yes they are wired from the HU to the Xover then to the 6.5" and tweets. So how do I check for clipping? Would it be from the CD? Turning the volume too high?? It seems like I can't turn the bass up on the speakers either or they'll sound like they're about to blow. Clipping FTL?
