Fixing A Slightly Broken Cone

I am in the process of getting a JL W7 from a friend because it has a broken cone. the sub itself is fine but it was used to basically bounce soda cans and the cone broke a little. im thinking its just the dustcap thats really broken but not sure since i havent seen it in person. I was thinking of patching the hole using fiberglass cloth and resin but i didnt know if there was an easier and cheaper way to do it while not making it look too bad and without making it lose performance?
