BHSskaterBHS
I've got a few questions. 1. How can i tune my amp (crunch pzi.1000.1) to push hard but not clip? I always seem to clip, when i turn it up pretty high. 2. Sometimes when i turn it up real loud it sounds like the CD is skipping but its not. (Doesn't happen much) Happens with the amp is off too. 3. If i don't have the car on and i turn up my highs (no bass) the CD player shuts off and turns back on. Why is that? -Thanks in advance. Quote 2002 FORD EXPLORER PACKED WITH SOME CHEAP SUBWOOFERS! hdrox88
1.There is a thread here somewhere for proper gain setting. 2.Not sure about the skipping. Could you elaborate a little more? 3.You may have a big voltage drop. Here is a link to that gain thread. BHSskaterBHS
I'm thinking its voltage too. Ive got a 4g run from the negative of the battery to the chassis, and a 4g run from positive to alt. I don't know where the other wire is supposed to go for the big three upgrade. Ive got one 4g run to the amp and some big 8g as a ground (i know it needs to big 4g also gotta get more wire) Ive got 14g speaker wire going to the subs and yes they are wired to 1ohm. Now i am pretty sure my problem is voltage... Which is bad cause my parents wont let me get a bigger bat or and alt cause i am not keeping the car for to much longer. BHSskaterBHS
That link is really nice, only thing is i need a DMM. Where can you pick up a decent one? Quote 2002 FORD EXPLORER PACKED WITH SOME CHEAP SUBWOOFERS!
hdrox88
For a decent one I'd say close $100. You can find them cheaper than that though. Edited July 27, 2009 by hdrox88
Lowroll
The other wire goes from your engine block to ground. & i got an IDEAL dmm from lowes for $60. I'd say any cheaper than $50 and the accuracy will be questionable. I got a Snap-On Blue Point one for a little over $200 but I did that for other reasons than audio. I have a blue point as well. my grandfather gave it to me but its just been chilling in my tool box. Iv got a pretty old fluke too, but i dont use it bc its not as easy as my ideal, the ideal meter is auto ranging= way easier to use.
