smqkeman Posted September 28, 2009 Report Posted September 28, 2009 Hi all, new member here and first post... i have a 2004 Explorer SportTrac.. im currently in the middle of completing a custom center console, all wood was cut up today and getting ready to put it together Monday.. cant wait... i have a question with regards to a sub box in the back seat.. i really hate the box's that they sell and what guys have that you have to pyut it under the rear seat.. well by doing that you then cant fold that seat down as the part you sit on also folds with the back and in the down position there is pretty much no room under that to the floor... this is what i was thinking, i run around with the truck back seats in the down position 98% of the time.. so why not build a box to fit in that area across the back.. and if i have to put the seats up than i can pull the box out and toss it in the back box and lock it up until i finish what i was doing... so the question i have is how the hell so i design a box with all the crazy programs out there or do i go pay the goof at the local store $100 to design it for me !?! i would rather take my chance and have it sound shit than give him that cash... i was thinking about having a box that you only see a port from the front, not sure if that can be designed.. this way if i have to move the box to the bed then i don't have to worry about the subs getting damaged.. i was thinking also getting the box line-x'ed think it will look cool and match the center console im doing... i took a quick measurement to the area that i wouldn't mind taking up, and ask for a little help to see if it can be done.. im looking to get 2 10" subs to use with the project... this is the space i have to play with and i also have a few picture if i can figure out how to load them here i will to help with you understanding what i have... Thanks to ( SHO_ME ) for helping a new member out on how to load pictures ! box length 52" box height 14" give or take 1" as i have the bracket for the back of the seat to lock into box depth 14" give or take 2-3" subs 2 10" what kind.... not sure, but dont want to break the bank.. not looking to get into a comp just have some good bass amp not sure head unit, its the new kenwood...lol USB cable one... i can load a picture of it.. its from the center console mock up any help would be great all, or point me in the direction that i need to be or go.. thanks all in advance This is the Back seat area for the Box this is my current project ( custom center console ) just got all the wood cut today ! no pictures as of yet !
