Gearstix Posted September 28, 2009 Report Posted September 28, 2009 I have been trying to wire up my subs. I have two Mach 5 Audio SPL12s hooked to a Audiopipe AP3000.1D. I am using 8 gauge wire to go from the amp to the subs. However I cannot get the wire to stay in these terminals. I put one 8 gauge wire in and tightened them all the way up and the wire still didn't really stay in there. So what I came up with is this: I took the nut off where the tinsel lead goes to the terminal, then put a length of 8 gauge with a ring connector on it.Will this cause any problems? I don't have both subs done yet, so it is not hard to revert.I find these terminals a pain in the ass!its sort of like what DD has done with their subs. The positive and negative wires are pretty much connected to the tinsel lead. I need to get a picture. I am typing on my phone. No laptop still. 2005 Blazer Build... brewer_brewer Posted September 28, 2009 Report Posted September 28, 2009 if you are talking about the terminals that have one nut that holds the speaker terminals onto the basket then no way, undo it. but if you have the terminals with a nut for the positive and a nut for the negative then you will be fine, as long as you are not changing the way the leads go to the coil or preventing them from moving how they originally did then it would work just fine. 8 gauge is a little overkill for that sub btw. you would be just fine with 10 or 12 gauge.
