alright i got the gain matching and all figuered out buttttttt i need a -3 db tone 60HZ or another tone i can use to set the amps with and also a place to find it!

why are you setting gains with a -3db tone? 0db tones

^^^indeed. i always set with 0 db.

ROE has both, mostly 0 db though.

my sub settin goes from 0 ( odd) to 8 what should i have it at? will a 70 hz tone work?

and for 3K it should be 77Vrms right?

0 to 8 is your gain setting. in a perfect world you would match that number to the preout voltage of your headunit.

ie, if you headunit has 4.5 volts preout then you would set the gain to 4.5 volts. but other factors come into play such as voltage loss through rca's, not all songs have the same level in them, etc, etc etc.

anyway the best way to do it is with an O-scope or at least with a DMM if you have one available.

is it the gain that goes from 0 to 8? if it just a bass setting leave it a 0 i use 45 hz tones,but i use an oscope. if you using a multimeter i usually has a range of 50hz to 60hz ac volts.

for 3k at 1 ohm it should be 55.8 volts.

P=V^2 / r so V= sqrt(P*r) => V = sqrt(3000*1) = 55.77 volts

have a dmm i will be spliting the rcs off so i will only have half the voltage threw each... 5 volt preouts so 2.5 to each amp correct?

i was thnking of putting it at 4 so i dont need to crank the gains and still have room to turn it down when i would like

with the 0 to 8 are you talking about the gains or bass boost?

dont just guess with the numbers on the knob, use a dmm atleast. and an oscope if you can.
