3 300 rms amps or 1 1000 watt rms amp

i know this is kind of a noob question but i have a friend that wants to run 3 amps that put out 300 watts at 2 ohm instead of 1 amp that puts out 1000 watts at 1 ohm

i was saying that that would pull my amps from the front battery and he said it wouldnt i may be wrong so please correct me if i am

also he was saying that if he got 3 amps it would be louder and i said it might make it sound cleaner but probably not louder once again correct me if i am wrong

he has 3 re sr type 12s they are 300 rms and a 600 peak

any feedback on this is really appreciated

all depends on the wiring loads on the 3 amps vs the 1 amp.

a single class d amp would be easier on the vehicles electical

i just looked up on the wiring wizard and if he does one sub per amp it can be wired down to 2 ohm

or if he does all three on one amp they can be wired too 2.666667 it didnt say that they could be wired down to .6667 but i thought they could?

I dont think it would matter how many different amps there are. 1000 watts is going to pull about 100 amps, depending on efficiency and shouldnt matter whether its coming from 3 amps or 1 amp

giving most 300w amps do 150+rms it would still be better to run a 1000w amp @2ohm or get him a cheap kicker kx1250.1 that does 1200@2ohm n try dat, but ied run a good 1000w amp @2ohm but giving independance rise he'll prolly get 3ohm out of amp so i unno

but ya 1 amp is alot better than 2 diff ones, and they wont be phaseing issues either due to tryin to set 3 gains, ive ran subs like this befor n it worked n sounded decent but not the best way to go, the less wire u can run the better, tryin to split a 4guage or even a 1/0 tryin to go threw 8guage wire back n forth, ited be better for one amp to run 3 subs than 3 amps one amp per sub daily

in the long run he's prolly only runnin 500rms total out of his setup now due to small amps, even most good 300w amps dont do 300rms so ya one amp is alot better, atleast it will be devided amongst the subs than tryin to set each amp

i kno steve has multi amps on multi subs but his setup is diff, he runnin one amp per coil so i dnt think this dude can do dat

ask him why he dont get one more 12 n run 4 off a good amp @1ohm?

i think he doesnt want to buy another one because he doesnt want to spend a lot of money on this and he thinks buying 3 amps will be cheaper than buying one and i told him buying 3 will be more expensive then one... any thoughts on this also?

if impedance is a problem.. he can look into a jl1000/1 or pdx 1000.1... they do 1000rms at 2 and 4ohms and everything in between...

and yeah buying one bigger amp is normally cheaper than buying 3 smaller ones
