I have 4 12" kicker comp subwoofers in my 1998 cadillac STS and i have a T.M.A. 1000.1 watt amp pushing them. along with a 320 watt amp pushing my kicker KS mids/highs. They hit pretty hard, but i was wondering if I could take them back and get a bigger amp to push them without blowing them. what do you guys recommend?

What coils are the subs? I am pretty sure you should have enough power to push them, since IIRC the Comps are rated at 150rms a piece.

Also is the box ported or sealed, if its sealed changing to ported can yeild a pretty good increase in output.

I couldnt tell you how big the coils are I was just getting into stereos when i got them and i didnt look. now i dont have the boxes they came in so i couldnt tell you. I do have a sealed box though because that is what my buddy liked and said that sealed will do the trick. but every stereo i see in person or on youtube or wherever has a ported box so did I screw up? :(

No sealed is fine, a ported box has a little extra output than a sealed box, but both can get loud.

IIRC the Comps have either a Single 4 ohm coil, or single 8 ohm coil. So you could of wired it to either 1 ohm they are the 4 ohms coils, or 2 ohms if they are the 8 ohms coil version.

So if it wired to a final load of either 1 ohm or 2 ohm you should be giving them just the right amount of power, and maybe a lil extra.

Also what size is your box, I think that Kicker Recommends at least 1.25 cubic feet per sub.

they "W" cut my box to make them fit cuz i had 48" wide speaker space and 44" of trunk, so they did that to make them fit. I'm at work right now so i couldnt tell you how big the box is since i cant go out and measure haha. but i will post it when i can in this thread. thanks for your help by the way
