Canada Posted November 15, 2009 Report Posted November 15, 2009 Hello all. I'm planning on adding a setup in the car I'm gonna get in a few months. I have access to it right now, and am thinking of doing some work on it (as in the wiring and all) that way when I get the car, I can just put in the subs and I'm good to go. The car is a 2003 Impala, which I really can't wait for; but anyways.. See what I wanna do is have a dual sub config, and was looking at the Alpine SWR-1242D subs. There's also the SWR-1222D subs, the only difference being that the 1242 is 4 ohm and the 1222 being 2 ohms. As for the amp, I'm not really sure what to get. I was looking at the Alpine MRP-M1000. Has anyone heard anything good or bad about this amp? I was thinking of running the SWR-1242D's in parallel, which I'm figuring would run at 2 ohms, right? And since the amp can run at 1000w @ 2ohms, it should work. Otherwise, if I run the subs in series, they'll only run at 600w (cause they're rated @ 300w @ 4ohm, as opposed to 500w @ 2ohm). Is this correct? Am I off on anything? Any help would be appreciated greatly.
