Sony Stereo system, need help

A few weeks ago, a friend of my dad's dropped off his stereo cause it wasn't working. Well, I plugged it in and after a few minutes, I got it too work, but it had this horrible rattle. So, I opened it up today and started looking.

The sub is a Planet Audio 8" subwoofer. The cone says "200 watts" (I assume that's RMS). The sub is in dam good shape. It looks brand new and has no coil rub. It's in a Quasi-Sixth Order Series-Tuned Bandpass box (no joke, I'm dead serious) and the box is sealed tight and the ports are aero ports.

The Stereo system in a SA-W542 (the box; has an amp at the back) controlled by a HCD-541. They are both hooked together with a flat, multi-conductor cable(can't turn either on without it). It's an older, used stereo.

Now, does anyone have a link to a specs page? And was rattle common on these things? And was the Planet Audio 8" standard in them?

Some screws are missing (I can tell someone took this thing apart in the past), but none of the places with missing screws are the source of the rattle.

does anyone have one of these? If so, info on how to take it apart would be helpful.

If ya'll need any more info, I'll be off work about 2 1/2 hours from now. so just post and I'll catch it this afternoon.

Oh, and I'll get some pics later.

thanks in advance.
